Kisii residents have a reason to smile after Safaricom launched a 4G network for easier internet accessibility and browsing.
During the exercise, that took place on Friday, residents were privileged to ride in a chopper as a symbol of 4G’s fast speed. Speaking at Gusii stadium during the launch, Safaricom’s Kisii shop manager Benard Juma said that apart from Kisii, they have launched the 4G in Kisumu, Meru, Mombasa and Nairobi regions. Mr. Juma said that the network will serve both Nyamira, Kisii and their environs. “4G is more accessible and easier to use,” said Mr. Juma. He said that it has higher data transfer rate with appropriate amount of spectrum and good network engineering. The manager noted that the turn out of customers who have visited the shop to register for 4G was amazing. He said that they have a plan to open a Safaricom dealer in Kilgoris which will ensure that services are closer to customers. “Since we have one shop serving both Kisii and its environs we have a plan to expand it to ease the congestion and also cut the expense for those who travel from a far distance to reach us. He asked customers who travel from Nyamira and Keroka seek services from customer care desk instead of coming to Kisii town and urged subscribers to enroll for 4G in order to enjoy fast and better services. The company’s senior manager for events, Eric Kivasu, revealed more than 700, 000 customers have already upgraded their sim cards to the 4G network.
