Fortune FC unfortunate as Shabana hammers them

Two goals scored by Shabana  FC attacking midfielder Bliss Kitiyo and one John Musyoka’s made the Kisii based club beat Fortune Sacco of Kirinyaga 3-1 on Saturday at Gusii Stadium.

Kitiyo amazed the Shhabana supporters  after he scored the National Super League (NSL) fastest goal  in 20 seconds.

The two sides came into the match having lost their last games.

Shabana (in white) lost 4-3 to Kenya Police while Fortune Sacco were beaten by leaders Wazito FC, 2-0.

The visting team got its only goal after Kazeem Adekunle scored in the 79th minute following the hosts’ laxity.

Addressing the media  after the match, Shabana’s head coach Gilbert Selebwa said the club was struggling to register good results at Gusii Stadium.

He attributed the good results to home fans who usually attend the matches in large numbers.

Fortune’s coach, Suleiman Haji claimed that they were denied two penalities  in the second half hence leading to their defeat.

He said that officiating was a big problem and that something needed to be done before the end of the season.

“Officiating in the NSL is a big problem and something should be done before the end of the season,” he lamented.

He noted that the club was focused to win the remaining five matches and finish among the top ten at the end of the season.

The tactician hinted that next season, they will be hosting their home matches at Kirinyaga Stadium as the facility had been completed.

“We have been using Thika Stadium during our home matches but now Kirinyaga Stadium has been completed. I am requesting the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to inspect the facility to ensure it is fit to host NSL matches,” he noted.

Shabana’s management has since appealed to the County Government of Kisii and other well-wishers to come on board and help them honour the remaining matches as the club is facing financial constraints.

“We are really struggling to pay our players since we lack sponsorship something that we are fearing may affect our remaining matches,” said the club’s organizing secretary, Stephen Kiama.

In their next match on Wednesday, Shabana will face Green Commandos in Kakamega.

Fortune FC will host Eldoret Youth in Thika.
